Ms. Jane Q. Smith
WXCB Radio or TV Station
General Manager
876 Third Street
Any Town, USA 85965

My name is      , and I represent [insert organization name and group size if applicable] or a group of [insert number if applicable] concerned citizens. I am writing you to inform you that [I or we] am/are dissatisfied with the type of music or programming your radio/TV station is broadcasting over public airwaves. The following is an example of a song/show that I feel is inappropriate for the general public in my community:

[Include the time and date the song or show was aired. Also, note the frequency of the song's rotation on the air if applicable. Importantly, include the artist(s), song title(s), and the lyrics, or TV show and offensive dialogue (word for word) you feel are inappropriate.]

I fully understand that [I or we] have the right to file a formal complaint with the Federal Communications Commission in regard to broadcasting obscene (prohibited at all times), indecent, or profane material on public airwaves during the 6am-10pm timeframe; however, [I or we] would like to give you an opportunity to reinforce the adherence of federal laws and regulations with your employees. Please respond to me in writing with your stance on this important matter. If you do not approve of these songs or shows, also indicate in your letter the steps you will take to ensure that your radio/TV station's content is suitable for the general public as mandated. Thank you for servicing our community.

Sincerely,

Pam Q. Citizen
